There are many types of storage racks. What are the similarities and differences between steel platforms and mezzanine floors?

Similarities and differences between steel platforms and mezzanine floors

Steel structure platforms are also called working platforms. Modern steel structure platforms have various structural forms and are fully functional. The biggest feature of its structure is the fully assembled structure, which is flexible in design and widely used in modern storage.

Engineering structures made of steel are usually composed of beams, columns, plates and other components made of steel sections and steel plates; the parts are connected by welds, screws or rivets.

Similarities and differences between steel platforms and mezzanine floors

Mezzanine floor systems usually use medium-sized longspan shelves or heavy-duty longspan shelves as the main support plus floor panels (the type of shelf is determined according to the total load weight of the shelf unit). The floor panels usually use cold-rolled steel floor panels, patterned steel floor panels or steel grille floor panels.

The mezzanine floor rack system is to build an intermediate mezzanine on the existing work site or rack to increase the storage space. It can be made into a two- or three-story mezzanine. It is suitable for storing and retrieving some light and small and medium-sized goods. It is suitable for multi-variety large-volume or multi-variety small-volume goods, and manual storage and retrieval of goods. The goods are usually delivered to the second and third floors by forklifts, hydraulic lifts or freight elevators, and then delivered to a certain location by light trolleys or hydraulic pallet trucks.

Similarities:

1. Both steel platforms and mezzanine floors need to be designed with stairs and need to be equipped with unloading ports to facilitate the later storage of goods.

2. Steel platforms and mezzanine floors can be built into two or more floors, and the bottom rack is the place for storing materials.

3. Both racks adopt a fully assembled structure, which is easy to disassemble and install.

Differences:

1. The mezzanine floor is supported by heavy duty racks or medium duty shelves, while the steel platform uses steel columns as the structural support of the entire platform. Therefore, the main beam built by the steel platform is more stable than the mezzanine floor.

2. The floor design of mezzanine floors can be designed as mesh panels or steel plates according to needs, while steel platforms usually use galvanized plates.

3. If the area is the same, the construction cost of steel platforms will be higher than that of mezzanine floors.
